Gwen Jansen is a contemporary artist based in Utrecht, Netherlands. Being a daughter of a wellknow Antillian photographer of nature, Gwen started drawing and painting at a very early age. She already started with commissioned murals and paintings growing up . After being admitted to the high school of arts, her father died and her mother strongly advised Gwen to study something else to have more financial security. Her mother told her: the brushes are patient. So Gwen had to quit the arts and went to the university and studied communications. After establishing herself in the fields of public relations, sustainability, making documentaries and TV series, with a growing list of awards, Gwen decided nevertheless to pick up the brushes again in 2025 after 20-30 years. Mainly as a way to stay positive and hopeful in this turbulent times in the world. Painting gives her a sense back of controlling peace, joy and happiness.
